Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of the Slovak Republic

Tomáš Taraba is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of the Slovak Republic since October 2023. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Environment was able to manage the population of the brown bear; he contributed to the development of hydro-diplomacy and relations in the field of environment abroad. Mr. Deputy Prime Minister is strongly involved in the process of peaceful resolution of the dispute Gabčíkovo-Nagymaros Project and, furthermore, Slovakia has played crucial role in adoption of the Nature Restoration Law within the EU. Thanks to the Ministry of Environment, the National Council of the Slovak Republic also adopted the amendment to the Act on Nature and Landscape Protection, which provides stability and food self- sufficiency of the Slovak Republic.   

Before he became Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Tomáš Taraba held the position of Member of Parliament, where he was actively involved in legislative processes. He earned a master degree at University of Economics in Regensburg, the Philosophical Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava, and the University of Economics in Bratislava.
